The greatest economy on planet earth was built on free labor. In an institution that continues to perpetuate the harms that widen the racial wealth gap between blacks and whites while locking Black Americans out of home and land ownership. This documentary journeys throughout California from Weed to San Diego in efforts to speak to the community, advocates, scholars and researchers. The documentarians have followed the reparations cause prior to the historic and first ever of its kind AB 3121, authored by Secretary of State Dr. Shirley Weber and signed by Governor Gavin Newsom while capturing and participating in every single CA Reparations Task Force Hearing as well as grass roots community listening sessions. Many people don't know that even though California was considered a "Free" State it did participate in slavery and continues through means of mass incarceration and involuntary servitude.
